About Lisa Romano

By day, Lisa Romano works in marketing and events for United Illuminating.

Like so many craftspeople and artists, however, Romano paints and creates around her full-time work life.

“I have been painting for years,” she said. “I do watercolors and acrylics. But I am self-taught. I am not a professional artist. I was involved with Firehouse Gallery in Milford and I’ve had paintings hung there. But I prefer to make paintings for gifts.”

Originally, from Norwalk, Romano has lived in Connecticut her whole life. She married her best friend 28 years ago, and has two children: a son in the Navy and a daughter who is a senior in college.

“I’ve always worked full-time, except for a few years when I worked from home,” she said. “Now that the kids are grown, you know how it is. I am getting some of my time back to do the things I’ve always enjoyed.”

Romano considers herself a “hobbyist” more than an artist, but says she looks forward to retirement, when she can full engage in her creative work.

“I don’t see us retiring here in Connecticut, though that is still a ways off,” she said. “We travelled in the Southwest United States recently and I found it really inspiring. l I love Georgia O’Keefe. I would love to retire someplace that inspires me and get fully involved in art community. When I have the free time.”

 Thank you, Lisa!
